Ethernet Extender

ETHERNET EXTENDER AND ITS VARIOUS TYPES:

An Ethernet extender is a type of network device that helps us achieve greater distances that otherwise would not be possible on our Ethernet segments.  Each type of network topology has a certain limit in terms of distance it can cover. Mostly twisted pair cables are used in Ethernet setups and for this wire the maximum allowable distance is 100 meters. Therefore to extend these distance limitations we have available to an Ethernet extender. There is also a device called an Ethernet cable extender that helps you extend your distance limitation to as much as you like.  Furthermore it depends on the type of Ethernet cabling you have.  For example if you are using CAT5 cables than you should use a CAT5 extender.

There are all sorts of extenders for various different purposes.  Each Ethernet extender will be discussed in this article so that you can better decide which Ethernet extender would be better for your needs.  The most common problem faced by people using Wi-Fi for Internet access is that the signals weaken and their Internet speed decreases.  To overcome this problem you can buy a category of Ethernet extender called the Wi-Fi extender which can even be connected in any network to act as an Ethernet extender.

Another common problem faced by HDMI cables is that they have a limited capacity and after that the picture and audio quality starts decreasing. However if you get a HDMI extender you can achieve the same high quality picture and audio from your cable, satellite or DVD even if it’s more than 150 meters away. These are great in acting as an Ethernet extender in an Ethernet network. You can also try a HDMI CAT5 extender if your network is using CAT5 cables. There is also another category of Ethernet extender called CAT5e extender for CAT5e cables.

FOR AUDIO AND VIDEO PURPOSES:

In some work environments like libraries, data centers, factory production sites etc there is often the problem that the whole center console has to be placed in one location for monitoring and access purposes thus creating a mess that is hard to manage.  However if you get a type of Ethernet extender called a KVM extender, you can place the KVM away from your computer and still access it with the help of its user – friendly GUI application.  You can also connect them to control a number of computers as with an Ethernet extender. Again if you are using CAT5 cables then another type of Ethernet extender, KVM extender CAT5 will be best for you.

In localities like businesses or schools there are often multiple monitors that are connected to a single VGA port but the problem that occurs is that the picture starts getting blurry.  To overcome this you can get a VGA extender that helps in strengthening the signal from the main VGA port.  If you are interested in using your computer monitor as both a video monitoring and a computer then attaching a DVI extender will help in this.

If you are tired of constantly switching wires each time you have to back up files, or use a computer or listen to music then you can easily solve this problem by getting a wireless USB extender, on which you can connect 4 USB devices and then access them wirelessly wherever you are, thus achieving a very organized setup in your office or home. Depending on your need and cabling types you can choose an Ethernet extender from all of the above mentioned types.
